Cancelling a BT contract (Help needed)
Wonder if someone can help me,
I signed up to BT line rental + free calls at weekends about 2 weeks ago, but want to go onto a Virgin Media deal (Needs a Virgin phone line).
It's a 12-month contract, but is there any way of buying out of it?

There is a cooling off period for contracts which must be provided so you should be ok.
Check out the Trading Standards website.

You should have documentation for the service by the way. I think they're legally obliged to tell you how long you have, and how you can cancel.

They've never sent us anything. We signed up over my mobile phone and they connected our phone line without any documents.
Also, what reason should I give for cancellation?

I think they have to notify you of your right to cancel.
If you're within a cooling off period then you don't need a reason.
