| Armando Iannucci said before the verdict that he was supporting Langham. If he'd been found guilty of the lot then I reckon that would have been it but I'll bet he get work behind the scenes in due course.
Either that or he'll get carved up in Maidstone nick for being a nonce |

Why should a man's life and career be destroyed on the back of one aberration?
Just a while back we were talking about Lee Hughes and how he should be allowed to get back to playing football having served his time (on the back of killing someone through his actions).
But because this is Paedophilia (the crime of all crimes, no matter what the actual level was) he should now be cast from society and his name never spoken of again.
| there's a difference between what should happen and what will happen.

Ah ok.
Sorry I get a bit worked up over this situation as it is just the modern equivalent of the baying mob and hangman's noose.
Lock up your kids as there are perverts waiting around very corner to lure them away with sweets and a copy of Beano/ Just 17.....

I'm not a 'baying mob' type of person, but why are people so ready to accept Langhams explanation? It didn't sound any more credible than the sort you usually hear trotted out in these sort of cases.

| because they don't want to believe the truth(!). It's like anything else - if someone you like/admire does something immoral you'll resist the inclination to believe it or look for things to cushion the blow a bit.

I was assuming that, but kind of hoping there was something more to it, some piece of information about the case that i'd missed.

Didn’t his explanation change during the course of the trial?
At first he was doing research for an upcoming episode of his show, then later he claimed to have been abused as a child and it was to help him come to terms with what happened (or something like that).
Pleading not guilty also seemed quite bizarre.
