| Well of course if you paid to view it then you're subsidising it but that's not my point anyway.
From a moral point of view the crime is that you're taking pleasure from someone else's misery.

but i do think if you've done something like Langham has done...looking at the most horrific levels of abuse then yes you do deserve to go to prison.
| Not sure what you mean there. Your two points seem to contradict each other. </BLOCKQUOTE>
Im saying you shouldnt just be given a prison sentence or just be given councelling....if you have looked at the vilest images availible you deserve to be punished but while being punished be given a chance to rehabilitate (i.e councelling sessions in prison) so that when you have served your punishment you do not do the same thing again and repeat the cycle. That is what im saying.

| So that would make viewing it for research purposes a viable defense then?

| You could argue they're creating the demand for more of those videos to be produced. </BLOCKQUOTE>
You could, but being able to prove it's only done for the sake of an audience would be impossible. Unless there's money changing hands, or some form of trade, pretty much impossible.

Wasn't the 'research purposes' defence pretty much thrown out after Paul Whitehouse said there was no such material to be used in this 'Help' programme?

If you could substantiate it yes. The police would have had to look at the videos Langham had wouldn't they?

The content is irrelevant if that happened to be the case.
