I have a friend who had voices in his head. He got therapy, nothing worked. He went to a church, people told him it were demons, he got prayed for and was cured.

Think what you want to think, but it's a true story.

A close family member of mine was smoking a lot of weed. I didn't think it was too much of a prob as many of us have toked in our lives at some point.

But the stuff people smoke now is much stronger stuff. I wouldn't go near the stuff now.

His behaviour became more erratic. It was definitely due to the drugs which seemed to bring on paranoia and hearing voices.
He was sectioned.

He has to take his medication now. It helps him, but he is still a little unpredictable and he does seem to be of normal nature.

BBB, its not something easy to bear. Especially as its your father. I wish you well. I also say stick with him through this time and make sure he takes his medication.

No - it's just voices in your head, IIRC. I think psychosis is when you see/hear things that aren't really there. </BLOCKQUOTE>

Reminds me of a Beautiful Mind, brilliant film.

Pretty sure he had Schizophrenia tho and he could see and hear people.

My sister's a paranoid schizophrenic. After about 4-5 years of treatment and being in and out of mental hospitals, she seems to be improving a little. Its such a weird thing having a conversation with her, then she just suddenly goes quiet mid-sentence for a few seconds and tells me what her voices are saying about her. They never say anything about harming other people, but she's attempted suicide so many times because of what they're telling her. Must be a pretty scary thing to go through. Doesn't help that she's been a drug addict for 15+ years though.

The ex had it. And her mother was the most bitter, twisted, psychotic and unreasonable schizophrenic I've ever known or heard of in my life. Happy days.
