bloody hell, I had voices in my head once, they were blaming me for the demise of Ajax, but after a bit of sleep they went away, and it wasn't my fault , honest

Anyone any personal experience of Schizophrenia? Post #24
Well, a mate of a mate was diagnosed some years back. He's fine most of the time and the only lapses are (mostly) only noticable to those who know of his condition. Those few who have been told of that condition since always think it's a really bad mannered joke, takes a lot of convincing.
(can't resist throwing this along, as ill mannered as it could be perceived)
Roses are red,
Violets are blue,
I'm a schizophreniac,
And so am I

Mart - sorry to hear that. I don't have any personal experience of what must be a very scary illness. I'd have thought that it can be managed with the right meds and support ?

Schizophrenics can have hallucinations and it is actually a form of psychosis.
The term Psychosis is characterised by the breakdown of a person's sense of reality and their ability to exist in a social environment, and schizophrenia falls under this.

Yes, two family members, both got it under 50...and still receiving treatment years on. My neighbour had it too (30s) and topped himself a few years ago.
It's the usual stories - police after me, MI5 after me, the radio/ TV's talking to me, etc... Then there's the suicidal behavour too. Taking drugs/ drinking to oblivion. Terrible stuff really.
