Background (the creators)
Eric Brown (29), Jeremy Harper (31), and Rob Hayes (29) have been friends since their college days at the University of Alabama at Birmingham . Eric and Rob graduated from the School of Engineering , electrical and mechanical, respectively. Jeremy completed his degree in Computer Science. Eric and Rob also completed the MBA program at UAB. All three of them have a degree in fun.

Eric and Jeremy recognized very early that they had the same creative and entrepreneurial spirit. Having experience in the software development arena, they immediately put their efforts into creating entertaining websites. They tried several ventures over the years which ranged from utter failure to moderate success.

How MillionCount began…
On January 20, 2006 , Eric called Jeremy on his lunch break and said “what if we get someone to count to 1 million on the internet?” It was not long after when we determined that person must be Jeremy. He was the perfect fit. We needed another brilliant mind to help make this happen so we brought in our long time friend Rob. Since the establishment of the new triumvirate there has been no turning back.

Why?

<LI>For Fun (why not).
The idea of counting to a million is nothing new. In fact you’ve probably thought about it at some point in your life. “I wonder if I could count to a million.” “I wonder how long it would take.” Well, we decided to actually do it.

<LI>For a Challenge.
This will probably be Jeremy’s greatest endurance challenge which is saying a lot considering the endurance challenges he has completed in the past. In 1997, he rode his bicycle from San Francisco to Washington D.C in the Journey of Hope, which also raises money for PUSH America . He also recently ran a marathon in Dublin, Ireland to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

<LI>For a Good Cause
On the 10 year anniversary of Jeremy’s Journey of Hope ride across the country, he has decided to count to one million. 100% of all donations made on our Donations page will be going directly to PUSH America .

How Long Will It Take?
We are expecting 3-4 months.

What is his daily goal?
Jeremy is aiming to count for 16 hours per day (minus break time). Depending on the day’s distractions, we anticipate 12000-15000 numbers per day.

Does he get to leave his house?
No. Not until he finishes. :eek:

Is he allowed to sleep?
Yes. He eats, sleeps, counts, and goes to the restroom. Each room is setup with a camera so that we can follow him every step of the way (24/7). His bedroom even has a night vision camera.

Does he have a girlfriend?
Yes and she is very patient.

Does he have a job?
Yes. He works for a local software company that gave him time off to complete this project.

How does he know what number he is on?
Jeremy uses a clicker that updates a monitor near the camera. He reads the number off of this monitor.
