To Jongi ofc. Like I say, a RIP thread to me is a place to pay respects/express shock etc, rather than have a debate over the rights and wrongs of that person. Mainly due to the timing of it, which will be immediately after news of that death has been published.
I should have stated from the offset that I would be upset if someone expressed ill of someone I had started a about.
But i still think outside of that we should realise that if you open a thread on a public forum (especially one that has no specific link to the individual), you should not be surprised if someone offers a view that is not complimentary.
Again those who want to post that they got a joke first are scum as they really add nothing to the debate on the person's life. </BLOCKQUOTE>
I think I understand your point if it was someone controversial like Anthony H Wilson, I remember a few conflicting posts in that thread without too many complaints. I just don't see how there could be so many conflicting opinions over someone like Colin McRae.

Are you saying you followed McRae and thus feel he is the type of fella you could say no bad about?
My post in that thread offers condolences to the wife and daughter. But I have no idea about the fella and as such can make no determinations as to whether comments are out of order or not.

No, as I said earlier I didn't follow rally or McRae and had heard nothing bad about him, which is why I find it odd that people are defending the distasteful comments about him.

I'm sure people are lining up their Thatcher 'quips' already. No matter how funny her death will be, the jokes will doubtless tarnish the occasion :thdn:
