I can see the anger at those who just wish to show their email inbox gets the latest joke first. However what of the person who genuinely doesn't care or is glad that x person has died? There surely must be people like that out there. </BLOCKQUOTE>
They tend to keep quiet.
If you are going to make a comment that will provoke a reaction, expect one, just don't complain when that reaction happens.

| They should obviously keep silent/out of the thread for me. That's what I've done with the Maddy one, only ever opened it once and that was to laugh at Argel being banned. </BLOCKQUOTE>
haha wouldnt worry about staying out of that one
it seems nobody cares about anything other than the masses of speculation and gossip.

I think people get worked up with the age thing because, if you're brutally honest, no-one wants to see a young kid being murdered do they?
There's still, but not the same amount, of outcry when an old man or lady gets attacked, but to an extent i do see your point.

but surely we are testing to what extent freedom of speech goes.
for me it seems unreasonable to want to provide a place to praise someone on a "public" forum and then be surpised when there are negative reactions.

| I can see where you are coming from there to be fair, I wouldn't say that the rally comment or whatever were particularly offensive generally, but like I say, I do think they were inappropriate and had the potential to cause offence to those bothered by the death. I just think that in those situations if you don't really care about the death then it is better to just stay out of it, rather than make jokes about it, in the immediate aftermath at least.

Exactly why I'll avoid a Norman Whiteside is dead thread. </BLOCKQUOTE>
why should your thoughts be kept quiet on a public forum?
