It had no Tevez, so it was relegated.

Bent turns down move to West Ham

Darren Bent has attracted interest from several clubs
Charlton striker Darren Bent has turned down a move to West Ham after the two clubs agreed a fee.

"We set a valuation for Darren and West Ham were the only club prepared to meet that valuation," said Charlton chief executive Peter Varney.

"This morning we gave them permission to speak to Darren, which he did, and he has decided not to join West Ham presumably after seeing what a bunch of cheating muggy bastards they are."

West Ham and Spurs were thought to be at the centre of a battle to sign Charlton's £17m-rated forward.

But the Addicks, who were relegated from the top flight last season, now expect Bent to stay with them.

"We look forward to Darren starting with us in the Championship next season, which is a massive boost to our chance of returning to the Premier League."

West Ham boss Alan Curbishley had reportedly offered midfield man Hayden Mullins to Charlton in a bid to clinch the move.

If Bent had decided to join West Ham he would have rejoined manager Alan Curbishley, who spent £2.75m to bring the striker to Charlton from Ipswich two years ago.

A West Ham spokesman confirmed the deal was not moving forward, adding: "A fee had been agreed between West Ham and Charlton but it was not possible to reach an agreement with the player.

"West Ham have been considering a number of options in terms of a new striker for the club and will now be pursuing alternatives."

Some "In the know" fella on a spurs message board reckons you lot could be in for further punishment too

In terms of Tevez?

The Premier League has already ruled, there can be no further punishment.

Artistic license possibly used ofc

Dunno, just said that, could be linked to this dead end Sheff Utd are chasing, could be a load of rubbish, but I don't think you can rule out a points deduction carrying over to this season considering your good fortune.

Nah, once the Premier League has ruled that's it. This Court of Arbitration stuff is just complete rubbish and will be shown up as such in a couple of days.

There's been a little bit of talk about maybe Cahill joining him, imagine the wankfest we'd have in the Aussie media, it'd be ace

Thoughts on Benayoun? If you'd said this to me 12 months ago I would've been gutted, but now I'm not that fussed for 2 reasons:

a) He's veeeery hot and cold, and always "injured" but right to play for Israel, and

b) We've in a position of strength right now - htere's 2 years to run on his contract and if he goes it seems it'll be for Bellamy + cash, good deal IMO.

I would be gutted if/when Benayoun leaves. I know he wasnt brilliant last year but you could see towards the end the quality he has. Is great for a team playing well and could really see us pushing on this year.

Im not so sure now after Bent turning us down, Yossi leaving etc..
