Well i believe if you ask someone in england about Michael Jordan the 90% will recognized him. If you ask them the best player ever or American Rugby i hardly think that the majority of the people that u'll ask will recognize him
that might be because his name is in the news a lot.
Doesnt make it a 2nd most reputable sport. </BLOCKQUOTE>
Well if i come and say to you tell me 5 players that play in NBA nowadays and 5 players that play in American Rugby nowadays. Which is the easiest question?
As for media covering more the basketball, the more reputable is the sport the more attraction will have from the media. that's my thought.

Why england hasn't got a good basketball team? Post #82
Great Britain has about a 60million population. Only Russia is bigger in terms of population in Europe so you claiming yourself to be a small country population-wise is ludicrous.
I would say basketball is the 2nd biggest team sport in the world, followed by volleyball. Those sports are both pretty small in Sweden though.
When it comes to real sports, I don't count casual fishing as a sport, I'm pretty sure basket is significantly bigger than golf, tennis & boxing worldwide.

I would say its the 2nd biggest sport in America, quite a lot of European countries, as PMLF said in the Americas it is, I think it is in China aswell not sure about that though tbh.
The more I think about it, probabaly is the 2nd biggest sport in the world, Golf maybe is competing for 2nd but Basketball is right up there.
