Do you make a habit of being completely wrong? </BLOCKQUOTE>
Where else was I completely wrong? Do you see enough tall people to make a national league, therefor creating a good level of competition for the national team?
I've been involved in amatuer basketball leagues and you'll find most of the big guys over here playing the semi-pro stuff arent english. The average english player height is between 6' and 6'4" which is pretty small considering. </BLOCKQUOTE>
i see enough tall people to make a competitive league in this country. Its just encouraging them to play from an early age. I'm 6ft 7 but never really had the chance to play. </BLOCKQUOTE>
fwiw Basketball is a brilliant team sport to play, more fitness based than most other sports and should be encouraged more.
If your 6'7" you should go to a local club and get involved.

Why england hasn't got a good basketball team? Post #64
No other team sport enjoys the global popularity and reach of football. Second biggest sport on earth would probably be golf, or tennis or boxing. They're played and watched in pretty much every country and few sportspeople have the global recognition of Mohammed Ali, say. It's not so popular with viewers, but pretty much everyone competes in athletics too.
The idea that basketball could be the second biggest sport on earth is laughable, just as laughable as the ludicrous press releases put out by the IRB about the billions of viewers for the Rugby World Cup and the broadcast deals in 170 countries, or the annual Superbowl boasting about "200 countries around the world" watching. People wearing basketball jerseys and knowing who Michael Jordan was doesn't mean people actually watch or care about the sport.

The great thing about basketball is that you can play by yourslf or up to 10 people. And you can play most of your life. I sorta hate watching it but love participating in it.

Thats not what I'm saying. The chances of us getting 10 quality 6'6"+ people to make a team capable of competing against countries with a much bigger population to get those 10 players is smaller

The Rugby WC is on cable TV here, but as far as I know, almost nobody is watching it.
