This Scottish rally driver chap (won't try and spell his name as I don't have the decency to spell it right apparently) incident has reminded me about a particular disdain I have for the method of transport that is the helicopter. Don't ask me why, but it's an irrational...fear? of the things that mean I'll never get on one. I have no problem with planes, so I'm of the opinion that it's basically because - in my mind at least - you have more chance of surviving a plane crash than a helicopter crash, simply for the fact that nominally at least an aeroplane should supposedly be able to glide, whereas surely a helicopter just drops like a stone? I therefore flat out refuse to ever go anywhere near one. ...doesn't help that I have a fear of heights also (have no problem climbing up to said height, getting down is the problem )
Anyone else have a dislike for the things? Or any other mode of transport? ...I'm also quite paranoid about getting hit by motorbikes/cars/buses when I'm in le pedestrian mode incidentally. I'm a rather paranoid person.
I broke the door of a helicopter once. I was escorting rich gits to copters for the British GP in 98 and slammed the door too hard, breaking the catch that kept it locked whilst in the air.
To say the pilot was not impressed is an under-statement, while Dave Sears (he of Supernova motor racing team) refused to fly in it as he would have to keep his hand on the door handle.
I was sacked soon after, which was fine as I was still at the track for the wettest British GP ever and still got to watch the WC final that very evening, when those still working on the copters didn't.

Jesus christ. Are we banned from using the word "helicopter" now? Should all songs referring to them, being in the air, crashes, even Scotland be banned in case they cause offence?
An accident involving something that I've never been particularly fond of occurs and reminds me, I post a thread on it (and don't make the comment in the actual RIP thread).
There are no words. This is exactly what I am on about.
My pianos out of tune
I wish it wasn't
I wish that you were mine
I wish that my heart was stronger
My pianos out of tune
I wish it wasn't
I wish we had more time
I wish that my world was softer
And I want a helicopter
I've had this feeling before
My heart is crawling in the mud, mud, mud
Id feel much better I'm sure if I had a helicopter
This telephone's out of use
I wish it wasn't
I wish you loved me more
I wish that your world was closer
This telephone's out of use
I wish somebody would take me to your door
I wish that my world was finer
And I want an ocean liner
I've had this feeling before
My heart is crawling in the mud, mud, mud
Id feel much better I'm sure if I had an ocean liner
My pianos out of tune
I wish it wasn't
I wish we had more time
I wish that my world was softer
And I want a helicopter
I'm on a helicopter
I've had this feeling before
My heart is crawling in the mud, mud, mud
Id feel much better I'm sure if I had a helicopter, if I had a helicopter
My heart is crawling in the mud, mud, mud
My heart is crawling in the mud, mud, mud
Mud, Mud
