God help us by the time I'm finished with this career then. I've barely started it. And was bad enough before I did.

So true.

Yesterday someone at work said to me "you're young and enthusiastic?" I replied with "I was".

But do helicopters not have a better safety record than planes? It's usually very small planes celebs die in.

Never flown myself so I don't really have any feelings on them. Always hated motorbikes/pushbikes, wouldn't own either.

Been planing for years to get a rotary-wing license. Whether I'll ever have the time or money to do it is another story.

Nope. Difficult to maintain, and difficult to fly. Most of them are notoriously unforgiving of mistakes, unlike most small aircraft which usually aren't any of those.

youve not lived till youve been in a helicopter. I love them. Did a flight over vegas and the grand canyon last year. It made me decide I wanted to be a helicopter pilot. but its too expensive at the moment. I would like to be a helicopter taxi driver for people like elton john

and i tend to think they would be more safe than a plane. they tend to wobble about before they crash and spin into trees and stuff. planes just set on fire when they crash. I hate planes as much as you hate helicopters

I remember watching that programme on Dicovery whne the guy built his own helicopter and....

There is a safety device on helicopters which means if the engine cuts out the rotors still spin and centrifugal force and other physics related things will keep them spinning hopefully long enough to safely land it.

So unless you have an onboard explosion that rips the tail off then you've probably got a good chance of landing it.
