I remember buying Quake about a week after release for £35 over ten years ago when new console games were always over £45 and sometimes up to £70. I dont remember other PC games being much different at the time although they did vary wildly. </BLOCKQUOTE>

Yep the £70 I was referring to were some of the original N64 games. Although it wasnt exactly unheard of for some PS games to go up to £60 before Rare started releasing all of their games at £50. PS games were generally quite easy to find for £40-£45 if you shopped around, though.
