At the match on Saterday(Barnsley Vs S Cunthorpe), I had a Tenner on Onibaji to score the first goal.
Well the first goal scored was actually an own goal. Onibaji scored the second.
Now i was always under the impression that own goal didnt count for betting purposes, and that Onibaji would count as the first goal scorer.
The bookie in the ground is now claiming that its not his policy to discount own goals. What i want to know is is it an industy wide rule, or is it up to each individual to decide?
I always thought they meant that whichever player "gets" the own goal does not count as scoring the first goal, thus everyone loses because, like you say, "I had a Tenner on Onibaji to score the first goal". His goal was the 2nd goal.
The way i always saw it is that the own goal is totally scrubbed from the record...like a few years ago i had a bet on "no scorer". We won 1-0 with an own goal from some dodgy league 1 centre half. They paid me out...
