The Times:

"Jean-Eric Freudiger, McRae's agent, said the 39-year-old driver had been piloting the helicopter himself. Also on board were believed to be his son Johnny, another adult and another child. Police said there were no survivors."

They had that an hour ago. Seems weird the other news agencies haven't picked up on it.

This culture of grief nonsense really ****es me off.
Some of us are motorsport fans who as kids have watched him drive and feel some sort of connection with him. God forbid anyone would want to show him some respect.

I very nearly posted "hope it's found to not be him" but then realised that mean't it'd be somebody else dead.

It's not nice regardless of who dies in this kind of way, but in a way i can understand people hoping it wasn't him, because he is seen as a bit of an Icon so is clearly going to have more resonance with people than random bloke xyz.

So is all light-hearted commenting/jokes immature then? Why is it mature to go "RIP" at the drop of a hat and feign to care about an event that in reality doesn't affect anyone on here in the slightest?

Nothing to do with culture of grief.

Your posts were just sh*t. And some people probably will be affected by him dying.

A lot of the time, i won't really be affected by the death of someone "famous"

Sometimes though, like in this case, i am, because i've followed him drive since i've been old enough to understand what rally is.

If the people in the thread want to moan about the "culture of grief" so much, go moan about Diana or Maddie.
