I think calling Zaitsev a muppet is a bit harsh.

The fact people are seeming to forget is the question said that players still need to be playing and have played for the club. Everton have the most balenced and promising team i've seen us put together in over 10 years. I'd say we've only sold in that time 2 players that could have possibly stayed and improved the team, Graveson who's now back and of course Rooney.

Now while i won't go into the in's and out's of his transfer from Everton to Manchester United, it's fair to say he's a different player now than he was then and we're a different club. He is a top quality player, there's no denying it, but would he actually improve the TEAM at Everton? I'm not too sure he would.

Rooney has a problem of getting frustrated in games and when this happens he starts to drop deeper and deeper to pick the ball up, until basically he's just in front of the back 4, making his role as a striker largly pointless. If you can pack a midfield full of the likes of Giggs, Scoles, Ronaldo etc. Players that have good control, skill and make time for other players, it's going to make a player like Rooney look excellent. Stick him in a midfield that has 1 playmaker and it's all about graft, i'm not really sure you'll see the goal return we'd want.

You missed Windass. </BLOCKQUOTE>
I nearly put Windass in, nearly put Mark Stallard in too. In the end I went for Gray and Blake and I'm happy with that on current ability.

Lewis Emanuel? Have you not had any good left backs at Bradford then?

I'm certain Rooney would improve Everton's team. Having said that, it was a great deal for Everton when they sold him. It's one of those deals where a club sells their best player for loads of money, but despite the fact he's clearly very talented he's not the heart and soul of the team, they could afford to let him go without the strength of the team suffering much at all.
