Heinze is similar to the Rooney-Everton thing though, surely? Ability he's perhaps superior, but mentally he just wouldn't be at the races, plus his relationships with manager and players...

he's not superior than Evra though. He'd still be a good squad player, but we've got plenty of others who can do that anyway.

pretty much the main reason Gaby left was because Evra had usurped him as first choice, and even before the whole Liverpool thing you'd have struggled to find a United fan who'd have had them the other way round. so nothing like the Rooney-Everton situation really

Out of the ex-players i'd have back, there is virtually no-one, except Owen. So i've made and ex-Liverpool XI...
Brad Freidel
Stephen Wright
Stephane Henchoz
Stephen Warnock
El-Hadji Diouf
Dietmar Hamann
Danny Murphy
Mark Gonzalez
Michael Owen
Nicholas Anelka
Djibril Cisse
Some real ***** in there like Wright, Diouf (yes), Cisse and Gonzalez. But a few who have carved out decent careers like Anelka, Warnock, James and Murphy. And then you have Owen and Hamann :*)
The only places with real competition were in goal and up front. Freidel, James, Kirkland, Carson (sort of) and Dudek all had time with us, with varying degrees of success. Also, Milan Baros and Heskey was always good for a

Should replace "James" in the first paragraph at the bottom with Brad Freidel. Obviously I was chopping and changing it.
