I have recently started to think about going into the army. It seems like a good option for me, as I really don't want a boring job and want something that challenges me. It will also give me the chance to get qualifications.
Just wondering, any of you ever been in the army? If you have, what's it like?
I'm thinking about going in as a reme, good choice?
I never feel the pressure
I only feel the pain
of men in the suits at their leisure
taking the soul that remains
they get their paranoid pleasure
I only hope that when the bullet comes
we keep it strong
when the bullet comes we get ourselves out of the way
Loads of different trades within REME. Any idea what it is you actually want to do ? Surely you have more ambition than to be a vehicle mender ?
Killing isn't limited to The Rifles, either, whatever Bert says.
My advice is avoid the Artillery, tank regiments or the infantry.

Not boring, unless you want it to be. A good craic, tbf, if you choose wisely at the start.
Fwiw, this weekend I'm off to the Army Air Corps Golden Jubilee bash at Middle Wallop. Along with some rather important others, my old Colonel In Chief among 'em. (HRH Prince Charles to you)

The only options that interest me are either in engineering or IT. And yes I do have more ambition than to be a vehical mender, but I don't know what a REME leads onto, care to explain? In a years time I could have a BTEC in basically Engineering, right? I can imagine being a REME is quite boring compared to some options though.
What would you suggest? Options wise, what would be a good course for the future etc?
Don't know about the UK but in the States they practically **** over ex-military with engineering experience (e.g. radar/comms/etc). If you can get a degree after that (which they usually pay for here) then you're set.

Seriously? Hitting America has always been a dream of mine.
