The Carter has convinced me to start a thread I thought about starting a few times.
I was born on February 4th 1970. There are a few things that I seem to have been the perfect age for as I was growing up and here's a selection (because I've bound to have missed lots).
I was nearly 8 when Star Wars first came out. This is a biggie I think, and Kevin Smith (who is a few months younger than me) talks about it a lot (and I don't have anything to add to what he says and I certainly can't say it any better).
I was about 11-12 when the home computer and video game revolution took off big style. My older brother is a geek and went out and got a ZX Spectrum. By todays standards rubbish of course, but at the time absolutely amazing.
I hit puberty just as the early 80's chart scene was taking off and even though I got into music more as I got older - I still probably look back on this period with more fondness than any other, and the music is the soundtrack to it.
I had to wait 19 years before Arsenal won the championship, and I got to stand in a crowd of 55,000 people at Highbury and enjoy terracing for around 8 years before it all went.
I'll leave it at that before I hit definite tl;dr territory.
This is not a 'good old days' thread btw. It's specific things... movies, gigs, football, whatever makes you feel glad to have been born when you were.
