how 'bout a contest ? Post #71 | | Guest | how 'bout a contest ?
here's something to consider. maybe.
Look at the lighting on the wheels. It's most likely not going to be the same shadows on the same part of each tire. Just something I noticed on ronmatt's car.
Just me nitpciking again.

I am possessed by detail. The more, the better. I get angry when clients don't notice, yet, it usually goes unnoticed. But I know, and that's what matters. Occationally someone like Lasa pops up who seems to appreciate the detail, so I play to a small audience. so be it. Have you ever noticed the music of Carlos Santana? Pay attention to his timing. The exact instant he slides a note off, the length of the slide. Impeccable. Absolute perfect timing. It makes him a master. I want to be able to say to myself when I finish an image, "Ron, you've done well. Good timing, Carlos would approve".

If you are into detail you've got to like "Old" Bugs Bunny animation (40's re-runs)..or Burne Hogarth line-art. (Tarzan) or the art of Mort Drucker (MAD)..My heroes!
I?m definitely more into the pen and ink drawing side of art, for some reason painting has always scared the daylights out of me? until recently, thanks to this forum?
This airbrush-ish style of digital painting is intriguing. I still don?t understand it..., but given time, I could learn to like this ?
(Kind-a like sushi, I never understood why people would pay more for them to not cook it? Cook it and charge me less...Now I like the stuff)
Sorry about rambling..
Thanks for sharing you've all been an inspiration.. 8))

Tough critic, ricib. You caught me though. Fact is I did do one (1) wheel and then copy it. I considered a little rotation but didn't follow through. When I finish this ride, (if I finish it) I will heed you criticism.
I don't like the shadow under the thing. I also don't like the overall softness of it I'll probably delete it and re-do it. I wish that I hadn't set the rules. I could have used Illustrator for some things. The major gripe I have with doing illustration for computer viewing is A) the low res and B) whether or not the moniter it's being viewed on is calibrated correctly or to the same profile as mine.
Lasa, back in the 70's I worked for a design firm that did record album design. Warner Bros, Capitol, MCA etc. There was an airbrush artist, had a Japanese name that started with an 'H' (one name, like Hukari or something.) he did Earth, Wind and Fire's albums. Beautiful, egyptian themes. I'll do some research to see if I can find his work. Story goes that around 1979 he found Jesus and disappeared (?)
I'll let you know, but talk about detail.

Internet format doesn't do your work justic.
Your work seems to have a golthiccelticfutureistism to it...

We're starting to drift here, but anyway, I have been asked by many people in this and other forums 'what my work is and what do the images represent'. I answer, " they're just doodles" Actually they're a bit more than 'just doodles' I've been drawn to these shapes most of my life. There is a consistant use of circles, spheres and 4 points. All of which are part of the 'sacred symbols' of the past. each having their own 'mystical' meaning. Take a look at this link. http://www.luckymojo.com/sacreddefined.html
I kind of like the "gothcelticfuturismistic" tag lasa hung on them. Looking for work under that classification certainly narrows down the competition.(Iedited the tag some)

hate to be the voice of reality -- but is the contest over or are we still going? just asking, and I would love to be a judge, as I am working on a beast of a piece right now. I have to say kudos to everyone who have submitted thus far!! [righton]

I believe we agreed to midnight Aug 12. That's on Friday. I'm not sure about the judging though. Group, or we pick someone soon.
