Default A question on Pensions

Basically, I left my former Local Government employer last September without transferring my pension to my new employer. I've had a letter from the pension company telling me how much there is, how much i'll get paid and when - 2041. Ideally i'd like to be able to claim the money now as it would come in really handy for a deposit on a flat next year. Unfortunately from what I can tell from the advice book, I can't put in for early withrawl until i'm 50. Does anyone know if it's possible to claim the money now? It is mine after all.

Also on a totally unrelated note, Nigella Lawson - Yay or Nay?? I say Yaaaaaaayyyy!!!

Depends on the policy. Sounds like you can't. Unlucky.

And on;y if she asked nicely. And didn't talk about her dad.

I looked into this on one of mine when I moved jobs. You're stuffed, unfortunately.

And definitely. I remember seeing a piece about her in the paper when she was still at Oxford, and she was fit as **** then.

also, any funds in your pension are pre-tax.

so expect to lose either 28% or 40% of it straight to the tax man if you do somehow manage to withdraw it.
