James Rigney, better known as Robert Jordan, the author of, amongst other things, the Wheel of Time series, passed away yesterday from complications from cardiac amyloidosis.
I don't know how many of you read his work, but it was one of the first fantasy authors I came in contact with and I've enjoyed reading the series, even if in later books it's started to go downhill somewhat. Apparently the series will be finished after all, as RJ had outlined all the key elements of the final book already. But obviously it won't be the same.
Heard about this this morning. Very sad. I've only read the first 6 books and have been waiting for the last book to be released before embarking on the rest.
Feck. He seemed to be doing well, even posted last month in his blog and seemed full of pith and vinegar. Him and Gemmell in the space of just over a year. Not great.
