Default organising dvds/cds

Do you organise your dvds/cds? or do you just have them in any old random order?

if you do organise them how do you do it? alphabetical? by genre? by actor? by director?

also, is there a website/software that i can type in all my dvds to for instance and it will then order them for me by certain criteria?

organise CDs by band alphabetically then sub-organise chronologically.

DVDs I don't bother with my if I did it'd probably be alphabetically or genre, which might be too tricky, might just separate tv and film and music and then organise alphabetically.

My CDs are in order of favourites -> least favourite.

It's not easy.

Don't use my CD's. Once they're ripped to tunes they just gather dust on a shelf in the spare room.

DVD's are just lined up on a shelf in no particular order. Nowhere near organised enough to categorise them or anything.

if i actually go on to organise my dvd's, how should foreign films be treated? if i sort by genre should they be mixed in with english language films? or should i have a separate section for foreign films and then sort within the foreign films?

What eric said for CDs. Alphabetically then by year for each artist.

DVDs I do the same, but keep box-sets and music ones seperate, as well as TV and movies.
