Default Getting rid of AOL...

A colleague used to use AOL for his internet but he's changed provider. Apparently he's having problems now getting rid of the AOL stuff properly.

I know AOL stuff is a pain to get rid of but I don't know much more than that of either his circumstances or where to start in advising him.

Does anyone know of any step by step guide to getting rid of the AOL stuff that doesn't look like:

1. Format your PC
2. Reinstall the stuff you want but NOT STUPID AOL

I'd imagine the problem is the dialler apps, that run on startup (iirc). Either killing them through Task Manager then deleting, changing the registry or booting in Safe Mode may help get rid of them.

Then again, I may be completely wrong.

start > run > msconfig

Then you can change them not to run at startup so you don't need to use the safe mode as far as I know.

I still have AOL on my add/remove programs list. Despite the fact I uninstalled it, and if I go into my C drive there is nothing AOL related in there.

Odd. And not very helpful. Sorry.
