IIRC when my brother scans for networks to join on his laptop only two show up - ours and the chap across the road who has his secured - which i'm pretty surprised about, that is of course, unless you can secure it and not have it show up at all when someone else scans for a network
| Yeah you can hide the name of the network, but again it'll stop casual users but even an amateur hacker can get round it.

What does VPN do? I find that WEP and mac address filtering is enough.

i reckon i could get it to log the MAC addresses of any thieving arsehole that tried to connect and then wirelessly cause rape to happen to them. something for the weekend i guess.
| you can fake mac addresses |

This has reminded me of something
Its probably me just being paranoid, its probably my **** router(bt home hub) but...
some afternoons (never the morning or night) my laptop will not connect to my network for one reason or another but suspicions arose in my mine that someone else could be using my network thats why i cannot connect. What is the liklyhood of this or am i just paranoid?
It is secured btw
