The World Rankings have nothing to do with the UEFA seeding for the World Cup. It's the number of points won divided by the number of games played over the last 4 years, i.e. the qualifying for World Cup 2006 and Euro 2008. Scotland are currently 22nd. There's 9 qualifying groups for the next World Cup so we're currently just outside the 2nd seedings. Only 1 automatic qualifier from each group, though.

we came 4th behind France, Switzerland and Israel in the WC qualifying groups, therefore we were 4th seeds for the Euro qualifying groups. Slovakia, Czech and Germany above us in order.

So if Scotland come first in their group for the Euro, then they'll be 1st seeds for the WC qualifying groups will they not?
