Default Royal Mail - Lost parcels

Has anyone gone through the Royal Mail compensation procedure for lost post recently? How long does it take to process and are they likely to quibble?

Having sent some stuff first class recorded in August before I went away for a fortnight, I came back to find it still hadn't been delivered. Rang up then filled in the form online (when I found it hidden on the website - you would have thought searching for 'lost mail' would have brought something up), printed it and sent it off this morning.

Items were < £30 so I'm covered but I have a feeling it'll take a while before I get my money. Am I right?

Ask them to check their lost mail office in Ireland.

That's where they send it so it remains unclaimed and they can nick it or sell it at auction.

If you sent it to a Watford address then it's probably one of 500,000+ packages sitting in a warehouse in Berkhamsted.

I'm not overly bothered about getting the stuff back. I was sending back a couple of t-shirts I didn't want. Nothing of sentimental value etc.

Just hoping it doesn't take an age to get it sorted.
