I'm guessing you're not looking for advice in the sense that someone on here has a clue how to deal with someone suffering from depression, as looking for help talking to some who does? Well, I haven't read the email, or most replies, but I personally would phone the Salvation Army and pretend to be him for the duration of the phonecall. See what they've got to say, np.
