There's a happy medium between being the annoying scab who's always borrowing pens and being the geek with a complete stationary set in one of their three school bags.
A cool backpack and a pencil case with one or two pens in it worked fine for me.

Some days I just take myself to college with no pen or paper. Sit daown get my mate to give me pen and paper and that was it. After i finnished I would fold the paper up and shove it in my back pocket. :cool:

bring two pens. one pen can act as backup and as a makeshift ruler in emergencies.
