I remember eating a fair few jam sandwiches, and also cucumber sandwiches as a young 'un. Nowadays I never eat either.

Kentish roast pork with cider apple chutney is a current favourite.

There's a baguette shop in Canterbury that does the most amazing pesto, sun-dried tomato and mozarella on/in granary.

Most unusual probably doesn't apply because in this type of thread "unusual" is usually a synonym for "utter ****".

Personally I find the idea of crisp sandwiches abhorrent.

Correct, but when your plastered, any sandwich tastes good. I had a Marmite, twiglet and jam one once, after a few too many Blackthorns. And it was lovely, despite me not liking Marmite and not eating twiglets for about a year.

I used to love having salad cream sandwiches when I was at school, its like egg mayo but without the hassle.

Tuna or Cheese was a winner during my uni life, weather it be a tuna & mayo, cheese plus pickle/salad cream/coleslaw or even a tuna with cheese toasted sandwich.

Recently the subway near to me has decided to close shop early at weekend, which leaves me gagging for a subway sandwich all the way home.
Trying to recreate that sandwich is something else though. Chorizo with cheese, salad (whatever I can find) and Branston's sweet onion sauce is my specialty.

thick cheese and thin butter are what I have. I prefer one with a bit of steak in it though, far far better.

After challening my old housemate to find a food that didn't go with cheese on a sandwich, I can say that cheese and jam sandwiches are strangely delicious, and that he still hasn't found anything that doesn't work.
