"He did nothing but ask a question"
No - he acted like a tool and abused the opportunity afforded to him.
"the shouting only started when the police forced him away from the microphone"
Again, no - he was shouting when asking the question.
"they had no right to do that at all"
The guy was a student on university campus - as this would have taken place on private property, the staff and elected officials can act to remove those deemed to be contravening rules of entry. Or something.

Basically everone just is insulting the guy and no one really can say what he did wrong, simply because he didnt do anything wrong. He was talking a little loud well surely he should be shot...
After kerry said, let him ask the question, there was absolutely no reason to even touch him. IF Kerry said, he doesnt want him anymore, then they would not have to taser him anyway, they could have easily carried him out, he nealry didnt defend himself at all. Didnt kick or anything, just tried to get out of the hands of the policemen and shouted he didnt do anything and was attacked without reason, which was absolutely right.

Devil's Advocate - you don't know the pretext of the situation, so you are just jumping on the 'police brutality' bandwagon.
Like I said, when he threw his toys out of the pram and refused to cooperate, he was leaving himself at the mercy of the cops. If he had not resisted them, not thrown his arms around and had just walked away, then things may have been different.

Devils advocate is alright, i only get the opinion that in discussions about civil rights the one who defends them is demonized in recent years. Had a similar discussion on another board and was BANNEd for saying i see a massive decline in civil rights and a massive concentration of power among the elite and governments. Its the best prove it is so, talking about it has become "illegal".

A blogger's comments for no-research bandwagoners: Quote: |
If you watch the full segment (rather than the part that begins right before he asks Kerry about Skull and Bones, which makes him look like a reasonable person being attacked for asking a question), you'll see that he was horribly rude and, in the eyes of police, obviously a potential threat. Rather than asking a question, he takes soapbox for a while and makes a number of references to the book he is holding. When Kerry (repeatedly) asks him what his actual question is, he makes it clear that he's there to dig up attention rather than actually participate in discourse. All of this was cut from the big popular video and it's very useful contextually.

The real downside of these kinds of campus crapstorms is that they work the attention-seeking lunatic opportunists into a lather, and then you're forced to read about their overwrought 'This was just like the Nazis!' rhetoric until the cameras leave town. Witness: Quote:
But the arrest triggered a protest by a group of University of Florida students Tuesday. One of them, Benjamin Dictor, called the arrest "an assault on reason itself."
"For a question to be met with arrest, not to mention physical violence, is completely unacceptable in the United States," Dictor said.
| Whoa. Cops tasered some putz at a college? THIS IS THE DAY U.S. DEMOCRACY DIED.
