Default Watermarks

Hello ! I wish to add watermarks to my photos but so far the result was not very good. For some reason, my watermarks aren?t transparent as they should. Is there a easy way to do it in Photoshop?
Thank you,

I know PS has something called DIGIMARC. Filter / Digimarc /Embed watermark, but I've never used it.

I do the following (I made and action awhileback)but here's the idea:
Type the words you want on the watermark in white text.
go to the filters and blur it a little (if you want a soft edge) it will need to rasterize accept it ok.
go to filter / stylize / emboss...I use height 2-3, amount 60-100.
go to the layer pallet and set the text layer to OVERLAY.

You can move the text , angle it, resize it and size it...

I like doing it this way I seem to have control of how well the image shows thru or not. Works for me.

Digimarc puts an invisible, theoretically traceable watermark, encoded in images. It costs money to avail yourself of the service to trace and attempt to recover damages or losses due to use of copyrighted images. Frankly, I've never heard of anyone actually using the prosecutorial aspect of the service.

A simple way of making a watermark, similarly to the technique lasa has shown, is to type your text and bring up the layer styles dialog. There, use some bevel and emboss combination (to taste) and back in the layers palette, reduce the Fill opacity to 0. That way all you have showing is the highlight and shadow. Save the style as a preset and in the future it is simple to type the text and click on the saved style in the palette.

I have a brush set premade to stamp my pictures. So I don't have to type it out every time.
I use an action that adds the layer and applies a transparent style. Saves me some time, I think. [excited]

Here's the style I have if you want to try it to see if it works any better for you.

I really like Welles watermark since it leaves you with clear-editable text! It's funning how you get used to doing something a certain way...Like not seeing the forest because of all the trees.
Very simple, thanks.

The brush idea another approach I would not have thought of...
Live and learn.
