Need advice on a boiler - plumbers or clever people welcome
So a friend has had new central heating put in today and has had a Worcester combi boiler fitted. There is a flexible hose coming from it and he has been told to check a light on it regularly - when it reaches a certain colour the tube needs to be topped up with water - has anyone heard of this
Sounds unusual to me - but then i know nothing of central heating. Any advice appreciated

As its a new sysytem it will be full of air ,so an automatic air vent which is fitted will release siad air, thereby dropping the pressure in the heating system.
New boilers need over a bar of pressure so it needs to be topped up after a few days.
Hope this helps.

I have combi boilers in 3 properties and all of them have a pressure gauge on. When the pressure drops below a certain level a light comes on and you need to top the system up with water.
In your friends case this is seemingly via the tube.
Maybe because its just been installed itsmore likely to lose pressure until the system settles down.
