thing is i can really only imagine being a sports commentator it's about the only thing that interests me, but i never get up off my ass.

only positive thing i can think of is i haven't smoked a weed bong in about 6months....seeing as i used 2 suck up about 5 a day.
You sound alot like my doppleganger except the weed part

As I am very interested in the inner workings of people but agree with you everybody is crazy just in differing ways so pointless. Plus the fact dealing with f@cked up people would depress me abit in honesty.

I also think I could become a good football commentator but just haven't bothered but im only 23 so think time's on my side if I am really that bothered about it.

Why are you not satisfied with it? I could argue that you're the victim of our society where we're bombarded with notions that being normal is bad and that we should always strive for more.

Contentment and happiness are internal emotions and if you allow them to be dictated by external forces then you are simply a victim of other people's expectations. What if you are just average, and unable to achieve any of your goals - you will look back at your lack of achievement and dispair. You will be a failure.

Everyone is different - you have no justification for criticising people for seeing the positive in what they do have. </BLOCKQUOTE>

That is a very Buddhist way of thinking, which I agree with. Life is not about what car you drive, what famous person you met yesterday, what you are doing tomorrow, or what you have achieved at work, those external things dont control your emotions only you can do that.

Yeah you could get a Ferrari tomorrow and be happy, but that Ferrari has not made you happy, you've allowed it to make you happy and as time goes on you'll get bored of it and either want an upgrade or just not appreciate it anymore.

Life is about being happy nothing more, I think i'll be content when I sort issues out with family, be in a position to do more stuff with mates and have enough resources to do various things, I dont care about money or possessions in honesty, it's more about my relationship with friends and family that's important, and that ultimately make me happy.

Was a programmer before I went travelling but now I 'm doing system design. Work 3/2 days a week. I'm probably underachieving but it doesn't bother me.

At the moment I'm very much mediocre. Going to Uni, so essentially studying (a lot), partying, and sitting in front of the TV/computer.

Once I'm done with medical school though (5½ years to get my medical degree, another 18-24 months to get my medical license) I'd like to think I'm not as mediocre anymore. Assuming I'm good at the job obviously. If I kill my patients I won't be mediocre either, but not quite in the way I wanted to

Maybe it is a cultural thing. Like the Samurai ethos for Japanese. I don't buy into it.

I am just one of 5 billion people. I am ordinary so I feel depressed.

But now that I have superpowers. I am special. I have a special purpose. It is my job to save the world. etc

That is too extreme. It is the mentality of a suicide bomber. Yet it is regarded as admirable.
