Exactly the same as me, near enough. 23 years old, doing a **** poor job working 25 hours a week at Royal Mail, barely paying the bills and so on. When I look at the dreams and aspirations I had as a kid, this is all just a big disappointment. </BLOCKQUOTE>
Are you still trying to move to Germany?
I've given up on the whole career thing. I mean, what I do pays enough to pay the mortgage, but I'm not ambitious enough to care about the whole greasy pole lark. I'd rather just be happy.

Right! Dream is to re-learn German, move over there and get a degree in some form of ancient history and potter around Jastorf for the rest of my life. Never seems to get any nearer because it's too easy just working and going home.

Only in comparison to the lives of the rich and famous.
But they're not a mirror on society.
It doesn't really matter if you have £3m or £3 in the bank, most people's daily lives take the same route, albeit with different degrees of expenditure.
Kids still get taken to school, clothes and food still have to be bought and people still fancy staying in to watch Silent Witness on the box.
Depends how you define mediocre. I currently am paying off debts, am single, work in a none too challenging job, and apart from the odd gig and stuff I don't do a lot of socialising.
Couple of years back I was in a good sales job, living with a partner and was looking at a pretty good career etc.
Happier now than I was then. Only aspiration I have is ti leave the country, and that will happen next year at some point.
