Are you a risk taker, and if so have you always been that way ?
Following on from Bert's thread on the police. Was wondering how folk on OTF respond to danger/taking risks ? Risk is a part of everyday life and covers many situations. Obviously the more serious risks can be life threatening, as with what's happened with this little lad drowning by jumping in to save his sister who had been swimming in a local pond.
Me personally - I've never been a major risk taker. As a kid, I'd shy away from situations where my personal safety might have been compromised in general. This includes stuff like swimming in the local river and doing the more dangerous stuff at the local pit heaps, on a pushbike. Some of the lads I knocked about with thought nothing of doing stuff like that, but not me ! As for adult life - I've always tried to rely on my gut instinct, and if I've ever had any doubt on something, then I won't do it.
That's not to say that taking major risks is a bad thing. As a peoeple, taking big risks is something that drives us on with some people thriving on it. Me - I'm not one of them.

whs. I did some proper crazy shyte as a kid that even thinking about it now brings me out in a cold sweat. One such escapade when I was about 8/9 years old was walking around the edge of the top of a 15 storey block of flats on a very windy day.

Bit like Cranker I guess, in that I've walked out of jobs with nothing to go to etc. But other areas where I feel that something might not be replaced, I tend to hang back from taking any gambles.
