Hmm, I thought it would be easy.......then I remembered, it's never easy for me when it comes to computers. [confused]

As I mentioned a few days ago, I'm switching to a Mac in the next few weeks. Planning for the "big" change I wanted to see how easy it was going to be to move my Favorites folder (or at least the contents) over to the new machine.

Well, okay, dokey, then. After looking through my hard drive from top to bottom for what seems like the last 24 hours I realized I have NO clue where it is and I can't find it. \:]

Can anybody direct me to my Fav. folder? That said, can I move these files to a Mac from a PC or are they somehow platform specific?

check your documents and settings file , there you'll find the favorite file,just copy this and that's it as far as i know [righton]

I wasn't able to find the favorites on this computer with XP. In the favorites folder there were only those put there by Dell before I bought the computer.
I finally found those that I had added in a folder under Earthlink, I had used a free trial of Earthlink when I first got the computer.
I accidentally found them when I hovered the cursor over the icon of a favorite in the recycle bin. The path showed up and I knew where it was.

Default location:

CDocuments and Settings\[USERNAME]\Favorites

Replace [USERNAME] with the name you normally use to log on.



Never look for those things yourself, let your computer do it for you, that's what the search tool is for

If you really want to make sure that you include all the files in your search; go in Explorer to Tools/Folder options/View and make sure that 'Show hidden files and folders' is selected or 'Hide protected operating system files" is not selected.

Say Lee, if you are going to create an ethernet LAN to have your computers connected, the easiest way to guarantee easy file sharing is paying a small shareware fee for CrystalFire Wormhole. After spending an hour one day, trying to get my XP box networked with my Macs through a router, I gave up in frustration and in five minutes had discovered Wormhole. A license for $15 per computer, launch the application on both, and you have an icon in the corner of the screen which is a drag and drop portal to the other computer(s). Considering OS X - XP networking is supposed to be simple and I've messed with Mac networks for years, my frustration was particularly galling!
