What actually is the point of wingdings?

I was having a conversation and was wondering about it and just did not know!

I looked it up on wikipedia and didn't have much information either. I happened to try one of the suggestions to see if any of there so called 'conspiracy' theories worked. And maybe coincidentally something wierd comes up when typing 'NYC' (as in New York City) into word and changing it into wingdings!

And if you haven't realised what I'm talking about, I mean the font!!!

1. Open up a blank Word document.

2. Type in Q33 NY in capitals (this is the flight number of the 1st plane to hit the WTC)

3. Highlight it.

4. Change the font size to 48.

5. Change the actual font to wingdings (1).
