A nail bomb has exploded underneath a car, believed to belong to a teacher, near a boys' school in Liverpool.
The blast happened outside St Edward's College, in Sandfield Park, West Derby - an independent Catholic boys school.
Merseyside Police has confirmed that officers are investigating a security alert at the school, which happened at about 1450 BST.
A spokeswoman confirmed an explosive device was involved in the incident. There are no reports of any injuries.
'Nobody injured'
Roads around the school campus, which is a few miles outside the city centre, have been cordoned off by police.
Insp Michael O'Callaghan, of Merseyside Police, said: "There was an explosion under a car at the school this afternoon.
"What caused the explosion and the reasons behind it, we are investigating.
"Nobody has been injured and there has been no collateral damage."

One of our teachers drove one of those old minis. So during the occasional fire drill, twenty or so people would pick up the car and place it between the trees that were very close together, making it very difficult for him to remove.
What joy.
