The problem there is, she was right. to get into a 15 film, she's entitled to ask for proof that you're 15. To give you a reduced rate, she's entitled to ask for proof that you're under 16. You provided neither. She was being consistent in her approach, because your question is the wrong one. It's nothing to with how old she thought you were, it's that she didn't know how old you were, which is information she needs to either let you into an age restricted film, or give you an age related discount.

The problem with this is that there are age restrictions in the first place, regulation is clearly patchy and impossible to police, the amount of money spent on ensuring heterogeneous application is not commensurate to the supposed benefits I.D.ing people are meant to engender.
