Default The greatest striker of his generation - post WWII

Here's one to talk about. Who has been the greatest striker of his generation, if you talk about on a per decade business ? Obviously we are all fairly young lads, with most knowledge coming from the 70's onwards, but perhaps we have a few anoraks out there who can go back further ? Obviously we don't have to talk primarily about English football - other leagues and countries are welcome;

A couple to start off and in no particular order;

Pele

Played during the 50's/60's and 70's. Scored well over 1000 comeptitive goals I believe in an illustrious career. Part of probably the best ever International Team - Brazil 1970.

Alan Shearer

Probably the greatest English striker since the beginning of the Premiership era in 1992. A scorer of well over 350+ competitve goals in not far over 700 games.

Eusebio

Again - before my time. My old man speaks very highly of him. Part of the Benfica side of the 60's and 70's and scored over 317 goals in 301 league games for that side.

-------------------------

Obviously there is more to a striker than goals alone, but it's their consistency to put the ball in the back of the net, which makes them stand out.

Any other contributions ?
