I DJ a bit. If I was you I'd have a go on a friends decks if possible to see if you enjoy it. As for what to buy it all depends on your budget. Technics are industry standard, vestaxs are also good, as are stantons. You can get cheaper ones by numark, gemini etc
You can get a reasonable pair for about 500 quid, but you're looking nearer a ton for new technics. But as they last for ages it might be worth buying them second hand. htfr.com, has a good range of vinyl and products.
