Gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay.

Lloyd Webber is the antichrist of the theatre world. Everything he released is to the detriment of the industry, and serves to do nothing more than to make money for himself, The Really Useful Group and the West End producers and venues - it does nothing for the industry itself, and the money ploughed into his tripe is detrimental to other producing venues.

Look at how much money Joseph brings in, and then consider that BAC may be closing down. It's disgusting, and the man should be chopped up and the pieces scattered across Theatreland.

Bernstein, Rogers & Hammerstein and Schönberg laid the foundations and developed the musical into a well-loved and well-respected genre - CÂ*uÂ*ntface Lloyd-Twatbasket offered nothing new to the genre, and his pseudo-pop nonsense is lowest common denominator dirge. Thank God there are things like Wicked and Avenue Q bringing something new to the genre, and not trotting out several musicals that adhere to the same dull formula - like some people.

I tend to either love or hate musicals.

Seven Brides for Seven Brothers: hate it.

Paint Your Wagin: adore it.

Blues Brothers: Love it, one of my top 5 all time films.

Blue Brothers 2000: Burn in hell.

In my opinion the greatest achievement in the musical of recent years was the musical episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer entitled 'Once more, with feeling'. But then I would say that, wouldn't I?

Unfortunately, this is the impression I get of the whole musical business because it seems to be entirely vapid emotionally deficient affairs, I haven't seen a good one so far and that is due to a lack of trying; but bar rectifying that sad situation Lloyd Webber and his ilk are retch-inducing.
