You wouldn't have had the choice. It was either over the top to be killed by Gerrie or don't go over and be killed by officers.
The fact it was a comedy is what makes this such a poignant moment. Comedy has this incredible ability, when done properly, to get to the gut. I don't really like Ben Elton as a stand up comedian, but he is a great writer. As is Curtis of course. Possibly one of my favourite TV episodes tbh of any show.
Indeed. I doub't you'd ever see this line in a modern comedy.
