All this cos we have their manager
4-2 loss tonight though :thdn:
| I know the feeling mate, he decided to officially allocate us Daggers the 1200 section of terrace behind the goal and stretching around a little bit to one side of the pitch for the local derby FA Trophy match a few season ago. Then, when we turn up, we discover that despite giving us 1200 tickets which we sold, he had segregated the terrace, therefore giving us just under half the terrace behind the goal, which I would estimate to be suitable for 500 people maximum. Obviously as everyone couldn't get in, we vaulted the wall and protested on the pitch and eventually, after about 10 minutes, their tw*t of a chairman moved all Grays chavs/fans from behind the goal and gave us the whole terrace as allocated.

Why would the club have to apologise/feel responsible for the incident ( I'm talking about all incidents like this tbh, not just this one ) It was the player who commited the foul, not the club, perhaps the club should encourage/force the player to make a public apology, but not apologise themselves.
| He is their employee, they put him on the field, they pay him and put that trust in him, so they should also apologise IMO.
If this was a York player, my opinion would be exactly the same. both the player and the club should apologise. Quote: |
Although this seems to be a particularly bad foul ( I havnt seen it but since there is a fair amount of fuss about it, that would seem to be the case ) a stamp ( imo ) is just as bad as an elbow.
| I think it depends on the circumstance.
A deliberate stamp, intended to cause bodily harm, is as bad. If it is meant as an assault, it's as bad.
Leaving your foot in just to rake it along a leg, or even just bringing it down late (and no-one is making much of the stamp you'll notice), is not as bad.
The elbow was an assault. The "stamp" was, at worst, clumsiness. Quote: |
If there is legal action in the works, I could see Grays lawyers ( if they have some ) advising them to say as little as possible?
| If Grays are taking legal advice, then that advice should be "Hand over the video and get rid of the thug a.s.a.p."

What the heck? Of course they would have a lok at the report before it goes on the site. i appreciate you might be a bit hacked off, but it's on their site, and it points out the guy was a pr1ck.
You claim "the official site report has nothing to do with the club itself as I understand" How do you understand? Has someone informed you that people just randomly put stuff up without the club even looking at it?
Or have you just been proved wrong in this instance?

I like the away trip to Grays, but it is a terrible club run by a terrible person.

I believe the Grays website is run by and reports are written by a fair and level headed fan, not a club official.

| really? I would still imagine that someone at the club has to look over the stories, and the Grays site looks like it is run by the club ( although I will readily admit I am no expert in this area ) Quote: |

| hmm, I would take issue with that tbh, if someone from my team commited a bad foul, I would expect him to apologise, but not the club Quote:

| You're right in so far as the stamp hasn't been made a fuss of, so therefore I assume it wasn't as bad, but as I have seen neither of the incidents, I probably should'nt comment further on this aspect. Quote: |

| I doubt the lawyers would say that tbh, there goal is to minimise exposure for their clients, and both things you suggest wouldn't do that! If the player is charged ( and possibly convicted ) of the offence then the club would probably get rid of him, but until that happens they won't. However he does sound like a rather undecent footballer ( in the same kind of group as Kevin Muscat and Ben Thatcher )

And no member of the club sees what goes up, or has any influence whatsoever at what gets posted? Would find that incredibly hard to believe.

I can't help but wonder if York's woeful start to this season would have been alleviated somewhat had I still been living up there.
