well in the match report on the Grays website it says: "A moment of sheer madness and, quite frankly, brutality from Jamie Stuart left Grays a man light for 70 minutes. The vice-captain‘s elbow left the jaw of York forward Chris Beardsley broken in two places."
and a news item containing this: "We would like to take this opportunity to wish Chris a very speedy and full recovery. "
which would seem to nullify your argument somewhat, what were the two york players sent off for?

The official site report has nothing to do with the club itself as far as I understand.
And the comment from Grays is entirely non-commital and the littlest they could get away with. It shows no sense of responsibility, so nullifies nothing.
The York players were sent off for a) being the last man and b) an alleged stamp (which isn't the same thing, so don't even waste my time) </BLOCKQUOTE>
Well I would guess that the club would at the least have to approve what is put on the website, so they would'nt approve anything they didn't agree with.
Why would the club have to apologise/feel responsible for the incident ( I'm talking about all incidents like this tbh, not just this one ) It was the player who commited the foul, not the club, perhaps the club should encourage/force the player to make a public apology, but not apologise themselves.
Although this seems to be a particularly bad foul ( I havnt seen it but since there is a fair amount of fuss about it, that would seem to be the case ) a stamp (
imo ) is just as bad as an elbow.
If there is legal action in the works, I could see Grays lawyers ( if they have some ) advising them to say as little as possible?
