Very few time travelling type things do.

Minority Report doesn't work either. Basically in that the pre-cogs 'predict' things that would happen, and then the authorities jump in and stop them. Implying therefore that the visions the pre-cogs see are what would occur without their intervention. But then Tom Cruise's character only goes on the run and ends up in a situation to kill because of the pre-cogs vision. Cause and effect paradox imho.

Or something. </BLOCKQUOTE>

Minority Report I thought was weak, quite frankly. All style and no substance.

Watched Terminator (the first one) the other week & now I am older I realise that the plot just doesn't work.

I mean John Connor sends this guy back in time who sleeps with his mum & gets her pregnant. She gives birth to John. So how exactly does that work?

I mean in the future they are both the same age & if this guy wasn't even at that point in time originally how exactly did Sarah Connor get pregnant with John?

Still a good film though.

All Time Travelly type films have paradoxes in the space-time continuum; you just have to accept them and enjoy the movie for what it is.

Good thing you validated your point with your last comment, otherwise I'd be going door-to-door looking for someone responding to the name Coldberg then jab a Garden Fork into their neck.

Rob1981's on thin ice as well, for not making it clear that Back To The Future 2 is still a great film despite some dodgy plotholes.

The plot for 28 Weeks Later is weaker than Avram Grant's claims to be a qualified coach.

From Doctor Who

"People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but *actually* from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint - it's more like a big ball of wibbly wobbly... time-y wimey... stuff. "

Oh BTTF2 is awesome. One of my favourite films ever.

But once Biff's given his younger self the book, he wouldn't be able to get the DeLorean back to Doc and Marty in 2015. He'd end up in the future of the other reality.

Nah I hadn't watched it since I was really young (came out in 83 I think. the year before I as born) so all I remembered was the time travel stuff & robots.

When I watched it the other night & actually thought about the plot when the credits were rolling I realised how the plot was just impossible. Thing is, if the guy he had sent back savedher & did nothing else then the plot would have made sense (if you ignore the fact that terminators could just get sent back earlier & earlier in time) as it wouldn't create any obvious impossible scenarios.

The special effects are rubbish compared to what we have now but I remember them being awesome at the time

But as I said it's still a very good film.

The Terminator walking up to the metal door near the end looks hilariously bad.

noooo beacause the point in time that he actually exited the past Biff hadn't started using the book. Therefore he entered and exited on a timeline that had already transpired (i.e the one from where he was from) which is different to the alternative timeline which carried on from when he left.

geeeez..

The effects weren't even just good at the time, they were groundbreaking !!

I like the bit where he fixes his eye. :hi-tech:

Who wrote Johnny B Goode, Marty McFly or Chuck Berry?

Yeah, these time travel things are messy as hell.
