I am very very very glad that they were very very very very wrong. I think that they would pass out if they were able to use Windows 3.0 [bustagut] [bustagut]

hoax or not...

I still have somewhere around here my first version of Windows 2.1... it used to fit on one 720k floppy way back when I first was into computers. You know what 720k Floppies are, don't you?

Nope, I never ran into 720K floppies but my original Mac uses 400K floppies. In fact I still have a working copy of an early Mac demo OS (v.85 even before the Mac was commercially released with v 1.0) and a couple of demo programs. Everything fit on a 400K floppy. Within a year or two of the release of the first Mac, 800K floppies became the norm.

I have a series of computers which can run every Mac OS ever released and most of the versions of Photoshop and Illustrator as well. It's fascinating to see how rapidly the computer has evolved and for those interested, we are close enough to the origins to be able to follow that evolution with hardware to boot!

I think I still have my original photstyler program as well. That used to be on two floppies also. Geez! I'm old. Photostyler evolved into Photoshop over the years (if memory isn't too far gone). I'm sure someone can either back that up or knock that rumor out of the sky for us.

Heck, I even still have on old 286 and the shipping box my first 8088 came in. That was a blazing 8Mhz at the time. Used to take what seemed like hours to boot just to DOS.

BTW, the 8" disks (capacity unknown) where crazy. I was happy when they came out with 5 1/4" 360k's. Now you can barely find a floppy disk much less a floppy drive around anymore with the newer machines.

Sort of. Photostyler was made by Aldus (the people originally responsible for PageMaker as well) and when Aldus was bought out by Adobe, some features were incorporated into Photoshop and Photostyler was killed off.

www.schewephoto.com has a "History of Photoshop" PDF somewhere that goes into much more detail, although I don't remember how much time is spent on Photostyler.
