Yes, he is. They are friends, apparently.

But Grant seems to be being formally appointed, not just as caretaker. That doesn't make sense to me. Someone whose highest profile job was to be Israeli manager for a little while won't have the clout needed to run the squad or attract talent as easily as Jose did.

I'd have assumed Gus would be left in charge of Russia until the end of their Euro 2008 qualifying campaign and then shipped across. Shows you what little I know.

all Roman wants is someone who does exactly what he is told, so just give it to one of his mates seems to be the best solution for him.

Not many managers would take the job with the level of interference that goes on at that club, unless they were only there for the cash.
